Extra Credit for the week of April 17, 2006

Select a drawing of a comic strip character from a newspaper or magazine.  Draw a grid over the figure, or tape a transparent grid on top of the figure.  Identify key points on the figure and then enlarge the figure by applying the rule (2x, 2y) to the points.  Color as appropriate.  Bring in the original comic strip and your enlargement.

Problem of the Week

Our class has an opportunity to solve non-routine problems through a program at Drexel University at Math Forum.  Dr. Bone has graciously purchased us a subscription which includes access and submission to the Current Problems and the Active Problem Library. It also includes free mentoring for the Current Problems when volunteers are available.

There are several levels of problems...so everyone should find the level at which they are comfortable but challenged.  Right now I have 3 levels hyperlinked...Fundamentals, Pre-Algebra and Algebra.
