Each week I've been posting extra practice on my math class page...students can optionally use it for extra credit. I want these exercises to be more than drill and kill kinds of things...and they are not easy to find.
That is....until I started using the Math Forum's Math Tools. This is such a killer help for math teachers. I just plug in the grade level I am targeting, the broad area of what I need and then the subcategory of what I would really like to find. This week I entered Grade 4, Geometry in the Plane, Triangles and up popped 4 pretty neat options.
I can't imagine what kind of 4th graders can use this site because I think it will really challenge my 6th graders, but maybe with guided exploration you could use it with elementary schoolers. But nevertheless, I think my 6th graders will find it a challenge. Only time will tell.
What I know for sure is that without something as handy and complete as Math Tools, this work would take hours and hours of surfing the web. I just don't have the time to do that and my students wouldn't have the advantage of this enriching experience.
