In case you've been wondering about a real life example where a PLN worked. Here's a simple but profoundly helpful example.
In prepping for my math class, I wanted to incorporate more graphing calculator use and since I've been working with younger students I haven't used one on a regular basis for 3 years. I've forgotten how to do stuff. I search and search for how to enter data points and have the calculator tell you the equation for the line.
I scoured the Texas Instrument website, looked through the TI-73 handbook and Googled. No useable answers.
So I sent a plea out to my PLN for anyone who knew how to do this. I didn't have to wait long. @davidwees sent me easy to follow directions and I was able to find exactly what I wanted. Thanks David...I owe you one and hope I can repay you sometime.
Pretty cool being a connected teacher and having a PLN to ask for help. Thanks to everyone who helps me be a better teacher than I could ever dream of being if I was alone.
Thank you for sharing a specific example. I've connected with many but the idea of connectedness and PLN is just a philosophy until I hear specifics of how it has helped. @monicahawk1

Very good post. Made me realize I was totally wrong about this issue. I figure that one learns something new everyday.
