Blend a marketing meeting with an evangelical church atmosphere with passionate people who want to change the world....and you'll have last night's KC Startup Weekend EDU Friday Night Pitch Session. Brave, amazing people stood up and had one minute to describe the educational problem they wanted to solve.
Did you hear me?
And better yet, they had a solution that they wanted all of us to help them with! A huge line of people who had ideas on what needed fixing and how to go about doing that.
Everyone, no matter where they work, need a little of this can-do attitude.
It was a safe, creative and non-stop evening. I'll have to admit that I'm always a skeptic in situations like this. I tend to hang back, check it out and then join in. I'm still not the wave your hands in the air and go nuts category. Yet I appreciate and applaud in my introverted comfort-zone sort of way this model of thinking, design and problem solving.
Never really heard of StartupWeekend. Check out the 54 hour model of creating. It has lots to offer.
