Light painting.....several of my students found this idea and I wanted to revisit the idea given the 5th Make Cycle. It's been a tough summer...my mother unexpectedly died and I've been left to figure out how to move through her absence.
It's probably cliche to consider how death and darkness represent each other.
For me, I think what's more relevant is how there is so much energy and lack of direction in this painting.
It's definitely a good reflection of how I'm faking it until I can make it. When people ask me how I'm doing, I reply with a cheery answer....no one truly wants to hear that you're lost and sad. So you contain all the lostness inside a boundary....and you wander and wander.
It's time to find a new place in the world and a new definition of who you are.
